This workshop is for women who are walking any path at any stage of motherhood—pre-conception, pregnancy, abortions, losses, miscarriages, adoption, an empty-nesting. We will take a deep dive into narratives around self, birth and sex. It will be a process of claiming and re-claiming—listening rather than demanding or prodding.
I am super excited to be hosting Centehua Sage, who wrote all of the recipes and food wisdom in my book to teach a FREE webinar on July 24 at 6pm. This is essential wisdom about the importance of the postpartum time and preparation of food- caring for new mothers. Centi is an amazing chef, movement teacher, postpartum doula, and mama of two. Her food wisdom is informed by her Mexican heritage, Ayurveda, Chinese medicine, Westin Price Foundation and the GAPS diet.
In this six-week course, we will:
- Demystify the key elements of the nervous system and how to track them in yourself and others
- Understand the way your psyche has constructed sex- what's in your sex suitcase?
- Clarify your "Yes"es and "No"s
- Illuminate what Sex actually IS from a nervous system perspective
- Create and maintain boundaries with love
- Clear up confusion about why your mind says one thing while your body says another
- Understand your patterns with safety and sex
- Experience YOUR unique nervous system and how it works
In this workshop, you'll learn more about the pelvic floor, as well as the postpartum period. Birthing a baby takes 1 to 3 days. Birthing a mother takes months to years. All around the world cultures recognize the importance of the postpartum period for women's health over a lifetime. In Ayurveda they say "42 days for 42 years," when well cared for, a woman can experience radiant and strengthened health over a lifetime, rather than feeling isolated, depressed and weakened.
On Friday, April 20th, at 6:30pm, Banyen Books & Sound will host Kimberly Ann Johnson of Magamama to discuss and sign her new book The Fourth Trimester. Kimberly will be giving a talk on the future of women's health, birth and postpartum. She is bridging the worlds of birth, sex, and trauma and bringing these conversations into the mainstream.
This course is a chance to anonymously, or not, explore your sexuality for yourself. What does that even mean? Who are your sexual selves? What is the difference between sex, sexuality and sexual health?
As women, we are holding the collective fabric, the very psyche of our planet. There are some tears in the patchwork, and our stories can help to heal those holes. Our work together here is to reclaim parts of ourselves that may have been left behind when we attempted to fit our curvy selves into some rigid boxes of what “spiritual” looks like, or “good” looks like.
Paula Mallis, doula and founder of WMNSPACE, is just emerging from her sacred window postpartum period with her second child. Paula will have a candid conversation with Kimberly about the supreme importance of honoring ourselves as women after birth and what that means. Get tickets here.
Wild Was Mama will host a lively conversation on the Rite of Passage that is the path of pregnancy, birth and motherhood. Come celebrate the birth of the newly released books by Lindsey Bliss, of Carriage House Birth, and Kimberly Ann Johnson, of Magamama—birth doulas, mothers, and mother advocates. The conversation will be followed by a Q&A and book signing, and both books will be available for purchase.
How do we construct an environment where we can mother in alignment with our values, those that are neither in opposition to or in blind alignment with our own motherlineage?
We can’t worship the Mother, without attending to mothers. Let’s start by attending to ourselves. Sign up for this workshop here.
